Black Hole Explosion

An explosion that occurs upon a charged enemy colliding with a wall. It would suck in all nearby objects and enemies, before dealing damage to any enemies in the radius.

After a very brief concepting period, I went into engine to begin realizing the effect. I wanted to give the black hole a glowing radius, as well as some small bits being sucked in to showcase the direction of the pull. I also decided to change the color of the glow as the black hole grew bigger, to indicate its instability and eventual implosion.

So now the black hole is growing and reaching its eventual climax. But it was definitely missing something. I decided I would add a swirl effect on top of it, which would spin and get smaller as the black hole grew bigger. I felt this would add an extra layer of instability, while also making it feel more like a black hole.

I wanted the explosion to keep a lot of the same characteristics as the first half, except this time, it would be more violent. The swirls would be more randomized and sporadic, the bits that had been sucked in would come flying out, and the glow would come back, but this time it would only be at the center, and briefly, to give the place of implosion more power at its core.

I finished it off with some distortion, and it was ready for the game!
